Today's Star-Spangled Inspiration
... reinforces the American will-to-win, competitive spirit, and never-say-die attitude ...
...
is from Valerie Workman, the mother of today's 'Flag-of-the-Day' honoree, Dustin Workman II (scroll down to experience his tribute) ...
“He was a very strong-willed person.  If you told him not to do something, then that was what he was going to do.”

... sounds like a typical, a bit rebellious teenager ;) ...

In Arizona, the US and State Flags are at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 for the interment of Captain Doherty, who passed away last week while on weekend drills with the Arizona National Guard.
Capt. Juston Doherty was a Train Assess and Counsel (TAC) Officer at the 215th Regional Institute where he developed officer candidates into commissioned officers. He entered military service in 1996 and was commissioned as an infantry officer in the Arizona National Guard in 2008. He served two combat tours, one in Iraq in 2003, and one in Afghanistan in 2013. He completed airborne school in 2009 and Ranger school in 2010.
Individuals, businesses, and other organizations are encouraged to join in this tribute.
In Massachusetts,
the US and Commonwealth of MA flags have been placed at half-staff, until further notice, to honor Weymouth Police Officer Michael Chesna.  He was shot and killed by an assailant on the morning of July 15th.
