In Maine, all State flags, in the town of Raymond, be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Monday, July 2 in memory of Captain David Mains of the Raymond Fire and Rescue Department. Capt. Mains
In Pennsylvania, their Commonwealth / State Flag is half-staff on the Capitol Complex and throughout the City of Philadelphia to honor Philadelphia Fire Department member Lt. Benny Hutchins - until his interment (TBD).
In Maryland, as a mark of respect for the shooting victims in Annapolis on Wednesday, the Maryland State Flag was ordered to half-staff this morning and will remain so until sunset on Monday, July 2nd.

Today's Military Moment to Remember
[ Colonel Roosevelt and his Rough Riders at the top of "San Juan Hill." US Army victorious units included 3rd US Cavalry, 1st Volunteer Cavalry (with Roosevelt at center), and 10th US Cavalry = public domain image ]
On this date, July 2, of 1898, a key US Army victory in the Spanish-American War occurred. Amazingly, when the war began, Theodore Roosevelt quit his job as the Assistant Secretary of Navy and led of group of volunteer soldiers known as the Rough Riders into battle. During the Battle of San Juan Hill, the bloodiest and most famous battle of the Spanish-American War, Colonel Theodore Roosevelt led the Rough Riders, to victory. For his actions during this battle, Colonel Roosevelt was posthumously decorated. in 2001, with the Medal of Honor. He's the only President to have ever received the Medal of Honor.
Interestingly, Theodore Jr., Roosevelt's son, served in both world wars and was also decorated with the Medal of Honor.
