with lyrics from the 2nd verse of 'America the Beautiful'
O beautiful for pilgrim feet,
Whose stern, impassioned stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness!
America! America!
God mend thine every flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control,
Thy liberty in law!
Whose stern, impassioned stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness!
America! America!
God mend thine every flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control,
Thy liberty in law!
Today's Reminders from Our Flag
Celebrate today's U.S. Postage Stamp Day by writing and mailing an unexpected letter to a relative or friend ( yes, using an envelope with postage ;)
On this date, July 1, in 1847, the first postage stamps were issued - a ten-cent stamp honoring George Washington and a five-cent stamp commemorating the first Postmaster General, Ben Franklin.
