THIS WEEK'S FALLEN MILITARY SERVICE MEMBERS
Picture
Thankfully, there are no new fallen combatants to report this week from the Global War on Terror.  So far in 2018, 13 military service members have died in the line of duty in Global War on Terror combat zones - 11 in Iraqi and 2 in Afghanistan.
Please, Remember Everyone Deployed this Friday (#REDFriday) and pray for their safe return.

TODAY'S HISTORICAL REMINDER:
<promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves>

On this date, June 22nd, of 1944, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the G.I. Bill (GI stands for Government Issue); thereby providing financial aid to veterans for educational and vocational training.  This financial support was key to strengthening America's post-war economy.  And still today, this bill is a good incentive to recruit military service members and empower them to further their education and contribute to American society after serving their nation.
""What our servicemen and women want, more than anything else, is the assurance of satisfactory employment upon their return to civil life. The first task after the war is to provide employment for them and for our demobilized workers. . . . The goal after the war should be the maximum utilization of our human and material resources."
- Franklin D. Roosevelt in speech to Congress on November 23, 1943 - leading to the GI Bill development and approval 7 months later.
Thought-provoking Quote of the Day:
... Living up to the adage that : without risk, there is no reward ...

"It seems to be a law of nature, inflexible and inexorable, that those who will not risk cannot win."
- John Paul Jones

(Commander of the Continental Navy during the Revolutionary War)
