In Kansas, the U.S. and State Flags are at half-staff until sunset on Thursday, June 21, to honor Wyandotte County Sheriff's Deputies Theresa “TK” King and Patrick Rohrer who were killed in the line of duty on Friday, June 15th. “These two brave individuals lost their lives protecting the public and we owe them a deep debt of gratitude for their selfless service,” said the Governor. “We pray for their loved ones, as well as all law enforcement officers as we mourn this senseless tragedy.”

On this date, June 21st of 1788, New Hampshire became the 9th and last state needed to ratify the Constitution of the United States.
So, today, we remember and honor the Constitutional Convention members, led by George Washington, who helped draft and approve the U.S. Constitution - making it our national law of the land, which famously stated:
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
Today's Slice of Americana
On June 20 of 1975, Jaws was released in U.S. movie theaters. The film, which put, then 27-year old, Steven Spielberg on the "Hollywood Director" map because it was an instant blockbuster film, scared moviegoers from swimming in the ocean ;) At the time, it was the highest grossing movie - the first to bring more than $100 million. The film won 3 Academy Awards and was selected in 2001 for permanent preservation by the Library of Congress.
