In Wisconsin: The US and State Flags are at half-staff in honor of Officer Charles Irvine Jr. of the Milwaukee Police Department, who lost his life in the line of duty.  They will remain at half-staff until sunset on June 16 - the day of his interment / burial.

*In Maryland: Only the State Flag is at half-staff to honor of Delegate Theodore J. Sophocleus, who died Friday, June 8, 2018. Delegate Sophocleus represented Legislative District 32.  It will remain so until sunset on the day of his interment / funeral on June 15.

Recently, in Somalia, US Army Staff Sergeant Alexander W. Conrad of Chandler, Arizona was killed in action (KIA).  Conrad, age 26, died on Friday, June 8, from indirect and small arms fire while patrolling with joint US and national Somali forces.  Conrad was a human intelligence non-commissioned officer assigned to the 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group out of Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

We thank Staff Sergeant Conrad for fighting for our freedoms and fighting to liberate the lives of others in Somalia.

On this date, June 15th, in 1775, the Second Continental Congress appointed George Washington as commander of the Continental Army.
He successfully led the Continental Army to victory over the British during the American Revolutionary War.  And after 8 and 1/2 years he turned over his command on December 23rd of 1783.

Thought-provoking Quote of the Day:
"Only those Americans who are willing to die for their country are fit to live."
- Douglas MacArthur
