John Hancock, when signing the Declaration of Independence, was quoted as saying,
"There, I guess King George will be able to read that without his spectacles!"
During this week, on May 24, 1775 to be exact, John Hancock became the President of the Second Continental Congress. And, still being in such position on July 4, 1776, he, as President of the Congress, was the first to sign the Declaration of Independence.
Slice of Americana
On May 22nd of 1990, multi-sport star, Deion Sanders, playing then as a New York Yankees, got into an argument and scuffle with then Chicago White Sox catcher, Carlton Fisk. Yes, you may have forgotten, that "Primetime" played Major League Baseball - for an amazing 12 years. It wasn't a MLB career full of many highlights, but this was one that is well remembered because he was trying to square-off against Hall of Famer Carlton Fisk.
