Across the USA, Our Flag flies at half-staff in Alaska, Wisconsin, South Dakota, and Kansas. And a special State Flag half-staff in Maryland.
Across the USA, Our Flag flies at half-staff in Alaska, Wisconsin, South Dakota, and Kansas. And a special State Flag half-staff in Maryland.
In Wisconsin, its Flags (USA and State Flag) are at half-staff, on Friday, May 4, 2018, staff in honor of Rico Caruso, Klint Mitchell, and Gregory Rosenthal, who lost their lives when the medical transport helicopter they were aboard crashed while returning from a successful patient transfer.
South Dakota is flying the US and State Flags at half-staff to honor Sean McPherson, a state representative, pastor, and Navy veteran, on the day of his funeral. He died of cancer at the age of 47.
Maryland's State Flag is at half staff to honor "Fallen Heroes" day in their state - marking the sacrifice of those who died serving the state in the past year.
In Alaska, the U.S. and State Flag are lowered to half-staff until Friday, May 4th, at sunset, in honor of Specialist Gabriel David Conde, 22, who was killed in combat on April 30, 2018 in Afghanistan. Specialist Conde has served in Alaska since April 2016. He was a member of Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson's 4th Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division. He joined the Army in August of 2015 in Loveland, Colorado, where his parents still live.
Kansas has called for its flags, USA and State Flags, to fly at half-staff today to honor the Kansas Law Enforcement Officer Memorial Day.

Recently, in Afghanistan, US Army Specialist Gabriel Conde of Loveland, Colorado was killed in action (KIA). Conde, age 22, died on Monday, April 30, from enemy small arms fire in the Tagab district. Conde was was an infantryman assigned to 3rd Battalion, 509th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska. He is the second soldier KIA in Afghanistan in 2018.
We thank Specialist Conde for fighting for our freedoms and fighting to liberate the lives of others in Afghanistan.
