Reminders from Our Flag

[We recommend you designate each Friday as #FlagDayFriday - a day to take a moment and be thankful for all America offers by performing a pre-Pledge Tribute.  But, if #FlagDayFriday doesn't fit within your morning schedule, you're welcome to GO HERE to perform this week's Pre-Pledge Ceremony on any day of the week.]

Today's Flag Status:

Flag Steward - Honors and Awakens Our Flag to Inform and Inspire Patriotic Citizens
On Tuesdays, we try for a 2-fer that makes you Think & Laugh.
So now, think...
... (a Women's History Month) Who Am I?

Picture

-I was written by  by Alice Paul and Crystal Eastman and first introduced to Congress back in 1921.

-Fifty years later, I was reintroduced by U.S. House of Representatives member Martha Griffiths and was approved by both houses of Congress in 1972 and sent to the states for ratification.

-By 1979, I had received approval by only 35 of the required 38 states, so my passage was given an extension until 1982.

Do you know who I am yet?
Here's one last hint:
-I never received the required number of state approvals to become ratified, but on March 22, 2017, Nevada approved of me anyways - showing their support for equal rights for all citizens regardless of sex.

Yes, I'm called the Equal Rights Amendment and had hoped to end the legal distinctions between men and women in terms of property, employment, and other equality matters.

We made you think, so now you get to
Laugh:
Why is a traffic light red?…

You would be red too if you were changing in front of people all day.

(I know... a weak joke ... sorry, but a bit funny - right?)

Closing with a slice of Americana ...
On this date, March 20th, in 1982, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts reached the top of the Billboard pop chart with their rock-anthem song "I Love Rock 'n' Roll."

Thanks for reviewing today's 'Reminders for Our Flag'
- a service from the Flag Steward program
Now go 'Be a good citizen' today by ...
... picking up and disposing of 2 pieces of trash that will help
keep America beautiful !!!
