Across the USA, Our Flag flies at full staff, except in Nebraska.

In New York, Governor Cuomo has directed the US and State Flags to be lowered to half-staff on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 in honor of Army Sgt. First Class Maitland Wilson, a Brooklyn resident, who died in Landsthul Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany on March 7, 2018.
In Nebraska, Our Flag is at half-staff until sunset on Tuesday, March 13 in honor of former Nebraska Governor Charles Thone who passed away at the age of 94.
[*Note: In honor of fallen Clinton Police Officer, Christopher Ryan Morton, the Governor of Missouri calls for the US and State Flags in Henry County, MO, to continue flying at half-staff until Friday, March 16th.]

Flag Steward - Honors and Awakens Our Flag to Inform and Inspire Patriotic Citizens

Up until March 3rd of 1931, when the Star-Spangled Banner was officially named Our Nation's National Anthem, there were a number of songs vying to become the Anthem. One of those songs, which strangely has the same melody as the British National Anthem, God Save the Queen, was My Country Tis of Thee.
So, listen to it now and follow its lyrics below.

My country, 'tis of thee,
Sweet land of liberty,
Of thee I sing;
Land where my fathers died,
Land of the pilgrims' pride,
From ev'ry mountainside
Let freedom ring!

On this date, March 13, in 1969, "The Love Bug" movie, led by a"living" car named "Herbie," was released by Disney. Like the sales of VW Beetles in the early 1970s, the movie was a smashing success and led to more spinoffs in the 70s, 80s, and 2000s.
