For this #FlagDayFriday, we proclaim that across the USA, Our Flag flies at full staff - except in Colorado and Michigan.

Michigan's half-staff honors Detroit Police Officer Glenn Doss Jr., a two year member of the police force, who was killed in the line of duty on Sunday, January 28th.
In Colorado, Our Flag is at half-staff to commemorate Adams County Deputy Heath Gumm, who was killed in the line of duty on Wednesday evening (1/24).  The U.S. and CO flags will remain at half-staff until sunset on Feb. 2nd - the day of his funeral.

On this 'Flag Day Friday,' dating back to February 2nd of 1848, the Treaty of Guadalupe was signed to end the Mexican-American War.  For a mere $15 million, the United States garnered a massive amount of land that includes today's states of California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, and Texas.
On this #NeverForgottenFriday, we remember

During this past week, in the Global War on Terrorism combat zones of Iraq and Afghanistan (OIF and OEF), thankfully, there were no fallen combatants.  And, we are not aware of any named military service members who were killed during active duty training accidents this past week.

So, let's take this opportunity to acknowledge, remember, and thank all those service members who are deployed overseas.
We appreciate them defending our freedoms and pray for their safe return home.

Thanks for reviewing today's 'Reminders for Our Flag'
- a service from the Beacon of Honor - Awakens Our Flag program
