Mindful of the school shooting tragedy in Kentucky, we still look to Our Flag as a source of strength and stability - uniting us all to overcome adversity.

On this 'Women to Honor Wednesday,' we recall ...
... America's first female Secretary of State, Madeleine Albright - sworn in January of 1997.
At that time, she was the highest ranking female government leader in U.S. history.  Her duties as Secretary of State included:
-Serving as the President's chief foreign affairs (countries) adviser
-Carrying out the President's foreign policies (strategies) as leader of the State Department
-Conducting negotiations on behalf of the U.S. with foreign countries
-Overseeing immigration rules and the creation of passports for American citizens
-Advising the President on the appointment of U.S. ambassadors and other representatives of the U.S. working in foreign countries
... and much more ...
Also, interesting to note, Madeleine Albright was an immigrant from Czechoslovakia who was originally named Maria Jana Korbelova.  Her family fled to the U.S. in 1948 to escape the communist takeover of their country.  She was known for being a tough negotiator with a soft touch in the end.

On Saturday, two U.S. Army Apache pilots were killed when their helicopter crashed during a training exercise in Ft. Irwin, CA.  First Lt. Clayton Cullen and Chief Warrant Officer 2 Kevin Burke were assigned to the 4th Combat Aviation Brigade, 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colorado.  During this week's #NeverForgottenFriday tribute we'll give more details on these heroic U.S. Army soldiers.

During this week in 1998, the movie Spice World hit theaters in America to big crowds.
Yes, they're British, but the Spice Girls movie, style, and show of force inspired many American young women - including my own oldest daughter who still loves to listen to the Spice Girls and watch their movie ;)
