TODAY'S FLAG STATUS:
Across the USA, Our Flag flies at full staff, except in Colorado and Michigan. In CO, Our Flag is at half-staff to honor of Sergeant First Class Stephen B. Cribben, who died on Nov. 4 of injuries sustained from small arms fire. He was serving in Logar Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Freedom's Sentinel. In MI, the Governor called for half-staff to commemorate Oakland County Sheriff's Deputy Eric Overall, who was killed in the line of duty on Thursday, Nov. 23.

On this date, November 28th, in 1943, the first meeting of World War II's Allied leaders began in Tehran, Iran. At this Tehran Conference, the 'Big Three' decided to start a second front in Western Europe to defeat the Nazis. This second front, called Operation Overlord, or D-Day, occurred on June 6, 1944, with the amphibious invasion of Normandy in northern, France - a major turning point in the war.
