TODAY'S REMINDER FROM OUR FLAG:
... Mount Rushmore's dedication ...
... Mount Rushmore's dedication ...
On October 31, 1941, the Mount Rushmore National Memorial was completed after 14 years of work. The 4 Presidents carved into the Black Hills of South Dakota are George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln - representing the first 130 years of American history. More than 400 workers helped Gutzon Borglum, a Dutch-American sculptor, and his son, Lincoln Borglum, to sculpt the monument. Each day workers climbed 506 steps to its top and mostly worked with dynamite to carve the rocks. Despite these dangers, there were no deaths. Each of the President's heads are as tall as a six-story building and their mouths and noses are as big as a classroom.

[ ... a Halloween hit - Let's do the Monster Mash ... ]
[ On this date in 1962, the "Monster Mash" ruled the airwaves and continues to do so today. It is proclaimed to be the most popular Halloween song of all time. ]
