Across the USA, Our Flag flies at full staff - except in South Dakota and Michigan. Half-staff in SD is in honor of the life of Presho Fire Chief Donny Manger, who died in the line of duty. And MI's half-staff commemorates U.S. Army Sgt. Michael S. Yachanin who was stationed in the Netherlands serving as a Chaplain's assistant.

TODAY'S REMINDER FROM OUR FLAG:
... the battle that ended the Revolutionary War ...

On this date, October 19th, in 1781, the British Army marched out in formation and surrendered to the Americans at Yorktown. More than 7,000 British troops, led by British General Lord Cornwallis, surrendered to General George Washington. The war between Britain and its American colonies was effectively ended. The final peace treaty was signed in Paris on September 3, 1783.

On this date in 1985, "Take On Me" gives the Norwegian group "a-ha" a #1 hit in America. The main reason for this song's success was its wonderfully innovative music video that takes place in a comic book.
