TODAY'S REMINDER FROM OUR FLAG:
... 16 years of GWOT - what is that acronym? ...

On this date in 2001, the U.S. invaded Afghanistan - starting what many call the 'Global War on Terrorism' (GWOT).  In retaliation for the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on U.S. soil and to keep our homeland better protected from this happening again, the U.S. has been waging war against terror groups around the world for 16 years.  In tribute to our service members deployed overseas battling terrorism, in places like Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, north Africa, and other countries, many folks observe R.E.D. (Remember Everyone Deployed) Fridays by wearing red clothing and praying for our military's safe return.

... the most lopsided college football game ever ...

[ On this date in 1916, Coach Heisman led Georgia Tech to the most lopsided victory in college football history over Cumberland. Heisman was seeking revenge for a 22–0 baseball loss to Cumberland in the spring of 1916 by running up the score to 222 to 0 =public domain image ]
