Sam Adams was an American revolutionary leader who helped spark the British revolt in Boston, served as a delegate to the Continental Congresses, and inked his name on the Declaration of Independence.

Died September 27, 2004 Serving During Operation Iraqi Freedom
Sergeant First Class Joselito Villaneva, 36, of Los Angeles; assigned to the 9th Engineer Battalion, 1st Infantry Division, Schweinfurt, Germany;
killed Sept. 27 when a sniper shot him while he was at his observation post in Balad, Iraq.
