TODAY'S REMINDER FROM OUR FLAG:
<"We the People of the United States, ... , provide for the common defence,">
Within some patriotic and military social circles, it has become a tradition to wear R.E.D on Fridays. R.E.D. Fridays are a good way to pay tribute to our military personnel on deployments around the globe. So, wear RED on Friday and take a moment to reflect upon our deployed troops keeping harm away from our homeland.
TODAY'S FALLEN COMBATANT ALERT:
Do we have any fallen combatants / fallen soldiers to honor?
No, but we do have fallen firefighters to rememeber
Today, Arizona flies Our Flag at half-staff in their state to commemorate the lives of 19 firefighters lost on this date, June 30, 2013. A special forest firefighting team from Prescott, Arizona, known as the 'Granite Mountain Hotshots' was overtaken when the fire near Yarnell changed directions and trapped them. The Granite Mountain Hotshots Memorial State Park has now been erected to honor them and the sacrifice they made to protect others and their property.
The 19 firefighters we honor are:
- Andrew Ashcraft, 29
- Robert Caldwell, 23
- Travis Carter, 31
- Dustin Deford, 24
- Christopher MacKenzie, 30
- Eric Marsh, 43
- Grant McKee, 21
- Sean Misner, 26
- Scott Norris, 28
- Wade Parker, 22
- John Percin, 24
- Anthony Rose, 23
- Jesse Steed, 36
- Joe Thurston, 32
- Travis Turbyfill, 27
- William Warneke, 25
- Clayton Whitted, 28
- Kevin Woyjeck, 21
- Garret Zuppiger, 27

Now, please, stand, place your hand upon your heart,
and make this Pledge of Allegiance (or National Anthem or flag-raising) more meaningful
by honoring Our Flag and all the inspiring stories it tells - like that of the 19 Granite Mountain Hotshots who died protecting their community.
Only those Americans who are willing to die for their country are fit to live.
-Douglas MacArthur
