Marine Lance Corporal (LCpl) Clark, age 22, of St. Louis, Missouri; was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.
He was killed in action (KIA) by a roadside bomb while fighting in Anbar, Iraq.

A high school classmate, Eden Newmark, described Matt as, "He was probably the funniest guy I knew. He was the kind of person you stayed out with until 5 a.m. and didn't even realize it was late."
