Today's Story from Our Flag
[ King of Great Britain, King George III, in 1771 (public domain image) ]
On this date, October 26th, in 1775, King George III of Great Britain declared the American colonies in rebellion, and called for the use of force, the British military, to get the Americans to stop revolting. Perhaps, King George III took acts like the pulling down of his statue in New York City too personal. ;) The King wanted to "keep the rebels harassed, anxious, and poor, until the day when, by a natural and inevitable process, discontent and disappointment were converted into penitence and remorse."
