Today's Story from Our Flag

On this "Where is Flag Steward? - Wednesday," we invite you to figure out this historical location that Flag Steward visited (many times over the years;).

[ This is a replica of the 33-star U.S. Flag that first flew over this city's new courthouse on July 4, 1860.  At that time, Oregon was the newest, 33rd, state to join the union. ]
Hint 1:  This city is where, on this date, September 23, in 1806, the Lewis and Clark expedition finally returned after exploring the Pacific Northwest region of America.
Picture
Hint 2:  This city has a rich history in Major League Baseball - having won 11 World Series titles, including 2 since its newest ballpark was built in 2006.

Hint 3:  Back-in-the-day steamboats would fill my ports along the muddy Mississippi River.

Yes, I'm the "Gateway to the West" - St. Louis, Missouri.  I marked the start of westward expansion after the Louisiana Purchase, which added tons of land to the United States west of the Mississippi River to the Pacific Ocean.
