#NeverForgottenFriday

Reminders from Our Flag
for Friday, April 24, 2020

#FlagDayFriday
#NeverForgottenFriday
Where is Our Flag, the U.S. Flag, lowered to half-staff today (April 24)?
There are NO new half-staffs ordered by the President or Governors.

Other Half-Staffs continue ...
... Across Arizona, Illinois, Michigan, New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey all Flags are half-staff ...
... In Pennsylvania, all STATE Flags are half-staff ...
... And, in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, and in the cities of San Marcos, Texas, Columbia, South Carolina, Washington, D.C. and San Diego, California all Flags are half-staff ...
Eleven (11) of of the 13 half-staffs, all except Arizona, and Texas, honor coronavirus victims.

There were no U.S. troops killed in Global War on Terror (GWOT) combat zones this past week.  But, sadly, there was 1 Marine who died during fitness training in Twentynine Palms, California.  The fallen Marine's next of kin have been informed of the death, but we have not been able to find any articles or pictures identifying the Marine.  We honor and thank this Marine for volunteering to defend our freedoms.

... unfortunately, there were 8 first responders who died in the line of duty recently.  The 7 fallen police officers, pictured top left to right, then bottom left to right and far middle, were: Sergeant Martin of the Chicago Police Department in Illinois (COVID-19), Deputy Hopkins of the El Paso County Sheriff's Office in Colorado (COVID-19), Officer Fontanez of the Boston Police Department in Massachusetts (COVID-19), Detective MaryLou Armer of the Santa Rosa Police Department in California (COVID-19), Sergeant Spinosa of the Sand Point Police Department in New York (COVID-19), Lieutenant Lawson of the Hendersonville Police Department in Tennessee (unknown medical), and Officer Putnam of the San Marcos Police Department in Texas (shot & killed).  5 of the 7 fallen officers died of complications due to contracting the coronavirus.
The fallen firefighter was John Schoffstall of the Terre Haute Fire Department in Indiana.  He died of a COVID-19 related illness..

We honor and thank these 9 fallen patriots for serving and protecting our country and their communities.

CLICK HERE to sign-up for National and State-targeted Half-Staff Flag Alert TEXT Notifications
(Many prefer this text alert service because within the Flag Steward app, we can only deliver state-targeted half-staff notifications if you are located in the state and always share your location with the app - which, rightfully, is not something most users want to do)
