Today's Moment to Remember
Fellow Flag Stewards:
For the next 4 to 6 weeks, until the beginning or middle of March, I will be focusing my efforts on redesigning and improving Flag Steward's Pre-Pledge Tribute to better serve student-citizens, particularly 5th-8th graders. During this time, I will continue to publish America's most Honorable, Accurate, and Complete Half-Staff alerts. But, there is no daily historical review today nor will there be in the coming weeks.

PS - I'm a one-man nonprofit show whose passion and purpose for Flag Steward has always been to build more informed, inspired, patriotic student-citizens, so I hope you understand this re-prioritization plan ;)

Half-Staff Alerts & Honorees for February 10
All Flags across NORTH CAROLINA (NC: Feb. 10 - 16): NC's Governor ordered, via emailed alert received at 1400EST today, all Flags at state facilities, to half-staff immediately on Mon., Feb. 10, until sunset on Sun., Feb. 16, in honor of Sgt. Javier Jaguar Gutierrez, who lost his life during an attack in Afghanistan. Sgt. Gutierrez, who was born in Jacksonville, North Carolina, was stationed at Fort Bragg before his assignment to the 3rd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. All Flags across ALABAMA (AL: on Feb. 10): Alabama's Governor ordered all Flags at state facilities, to half-staff, from sunrise until sunset, on Mon., Feb. 10, the date of his interment, in honor of Kimberly Police Department Officer Nick O'Rear, who was shot and killed in the line of duty on Wed., Feb. 5. All Flags at Florida State Highway Patrol buildings, FLORIDA (FL: until Feb. 13): Florida State Highway Patrol HQ leaders', assumedly with approval from and authority of the FL Governor, ordered all Flags at FL State Highway Patrol facilities, to half-staff until sunset on Thu., Feb. 13, the date of his interment, in honor of Florida State Highway Patrol Trooper Joseph Bullock, who was shot and killed in the line of duty on Wed., Feb. 5. All Flags across Harford County, MARYLAND (MD: Feb. 7-10): Harford County officials, assumedly with authority and approval of the MD Governor, ordered all Flags at county buildings to half-staff, from sunrise on Fri., Feb. 7, to sunset on Mon., Feb. 10, in honor of two deputies, Senior Deputy Dailey and Deputy Logsdon, killed in line of duty on Feb. 10, 2016. All Flags in the City of Los Angeles, CALIFORNIA (CA: until TBD): City of Los Angeles' Mayor, assumedly with authority and approval of the CA Governor, ordered all Flags at city buildings to half-staff until the date of his interment (TBD), in honor of Kobe Bryant, Gianna Bryant, and all of the victims in Sunday's (Jan. 26) tragic helicopter crash.
