Today's Moment to Remember
... which U.S. President am I? ...
Picture

OTD (On this date), January 7, in 1800, I was born in a log cabin

I had a mythical "rags to riches" life - from teaching myself to read and write while living in remote, rural upper state New York to starting my own law firm by age 23

I was nicknamed the "Last of the Whigs"

Picture
[ The house that I helped build a couple years after opening my own law practice in NY ]

I did not have a VP because I succeeded Zachary Taylor, who died suddenly of a stomach disease, as President

I served as our 13th U.S. President from 1850-53
Picture

I signed some bills (laws) that became known as the 'Compromise of 1850' - leading to a brief truce between the North and South in the battle over slavery

Do you know which U.S. President I am?
Here's one last hint.

My first name is "Millard"

Picture
Yes, I am / was Millard Fillmore,
the 13th President of the United States from 1850-53
Thanks for reviewing today's 'Reminders for Our Flag'
