Today's Moment to Remember
Turn the volume to Full/100% to... listen to and/or watch Old Glory wave at Flag Steward HQ while the names of the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence are read aloud.

And, test your Declaration of Independence knowledge:

Questions:
1)Where did the Second Continental Congress meet to debate the Declaration?  Fanueil Hall or the Pennsylvania State House?
2)From the Committee of Five that drafted the Declaration,
Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Roger Sherman or Robert R. Livingston, who wrote most of it?
3)Is the term "Declaration of Independence" written in the document?  Yes or no?
4)Who printed copies of the Declaration of Independence to be distributed throughout the colonies - Paul Revere, John Dunlap, or Mary Goddard?
Picture
Answers:
1) Independence Hall - also known as the Pennsylvania State House
2) Thomas Jefferson, nominated by John Adams, wrote most of the Declaration, and is, therefore, considered 'author' of it
3) No - not anywhere in the document does it say, "Declaration of Independence".  Instead it states, "
The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America" at the top of the document
4) John Dunlap, a local Philadelphia printer, was the first to print it.  He printed 200 copies of the Declaration of Independence - historians called these the "Dunlap Broadsides" printing.  Only 26 original "Dunlap Broadsides" are known to exist.  And, Mary Goddard was the second person selected to print the Declaration.
COMMEMORATING THOSE WHO FOUGHT AND DIED FOR OUR INDEPENDENCE

[ Revolutionary War Cemetery in Salem, NY ]
As we celebrate 243 years of American freedom, let us not forget those who fought to defend our freedoms and liberate others.  Take a moment today to remember and honor our revolutionary 'Minutemen,' and soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines who have enabled us to continually pursue our Founding Fathers' beliefs in "Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness."
