Half-Staff Alerts for May 9th
The US & State Flags ACROSS COLORADO, ILLINOIS, and INDIANA are at half-staff.
The STATE FLAG is half-staff across North Carolina.
And, All Flags in S. Lake Tahoe City, CA and Biloxi, MS are half-staff.
[ Also, Philadelphia Mayor ordered Philly City Flag only to half-staff ]

On this date, yesterday;) May 8th, in 1884, Harry S. Truman, our 33rd President, was born in Lamar, Missouri. Truman was the son of a farmer, didn't go to college, and in 1916 joined the US Army, at the late age of 33, to fight in WWI. In 1922, Truman entered politics - going on to serve in the US Senate from 1934 to 1945, when he was chosen as Vice President to Franklin D. Roosevelt. Upon becoming President, he was immediately preoccupied with the decision on how and when to end WWII fighting with Japan.
Today's Slice of Ol' Americana
On May 9th in 1887, the Buffalo Bill Wild West Show first performed in London, England. This show traveled across the USA and Europe from about 1870 to 1920. This show glorified life on the American frontier by showcasing cowboys, Native Americans Indians, army personnel, outlaws, and animals that lived in the American West.
