Today's Moment to Remember
On this 'Women to Honor Wednesday' of 'Women's History Month,' we recall
... 5 women who overcame countless obstacles to establish 'Women's History Month' ...
From Northern California, Molly Murphy MacGregor, Mary Ruthsdotter, Maria Cuevas, Paula Hammett and Bette Morgan, set out in 1980 to teach more of women's historical achievements to Americans. They started their effort, called the National Women's History Project (NWHP), by attacking the top first - lobbying Congress to designate March as National Women's History Month. Their hard work paid off in 1987.
Since that time, NWHP has served as the leading provider of women's historical information to educators and community organizations.
