[ There is no Pre-Pledge Tribute this week. ]
Today's Star-Spangled Inspirational Quote
"I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're doing something."

Today's Flag Status
Across America, the US Flag flies at FULL STAFF, except in KY. And, in PA, there is a special State Flag half-staff.

In PENNSYLVANIA, the Governor has ordered the PA State / Commonwealth Flag to half-staff to honor EMT Robert Kohler Sr., who died while on duty at Station 23, Northeastern Area EMS, Manchester, PA, on Christmas morning. and it will remain at half-staff until the day of his interment (burial / funeral) on Jan. 4th.
In KENTUCKY, the Governor has ordered the US and State Flags to half-staff, on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, from sunrise to sunset, as a mark of respect for fallen Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) Detective Deidre "Dee Dee" Mengedoht. She was killed in the line of duty on Christmas Eve.

a Personal Note from Me:
Fellow, Flag Stewards!
Thanks! Thank You! Thanks!
You've catapulted Flag Steward well beyond my first year expectations. And, I look forward to serving you all better and growing our ranks during 2019. I have too much to say, in gratitude and reflection, and not enough time to write it all today - before getting ready for our NYE party! ;) So, tomorrow, on New Year's Day, as I recover from tonight's NYE party, I will write a full letter of appreciation and resolution to you all. In the meantime, if you have a moment, please send along your comments, complaints, accolades, and disappointments about this first year's Flag Steward service (the website, app, and/or Interactive American Flag).
Please, fill-in the comment box below. And, don't hold back because I'm a thick-skinned Marine Veteran and want to improve this service and better fulfill our mission: To Make Our Flag and its Ceremonies more Engaging and Meaningful to citizens, especially students.
In God We Trust,
-Sean Sweeney
PS - And, yes, I fixed as best I could, the 2 biggest faults highlighted by users on the Flag Steward app ratings pages about a month ago:
1) I fixed the app notifications system to ensure there are no more ... bothersome noises and sounds with the notifications delivered
2) I figured out how to send app notifications to app users in select states that have immediate half-staff alerts
[Note: I will continue to send 1 (yes, just ONE) daily notification at 0500 / 5am EST to ALL USERS so that they are aware of the Daily Reminders from Our Flag including the flag status across all 50 states and historical moments to know and reflect upon. The only reason you should receive a 2nd alert in one day is because there is an immediate half-staff alert by your state's Governor or the President or some other national or state emergency you should be aware of. If there is an immediate half-staff ordered by a Governor, I will only notify app users in that state.]
