[Note:  Play this patriotic music in the background to enhance the experience]
We start this #FlagDayFriday by recommending that you perform a ...

and/or a pre-Anthem Tribute at your sporting event

For this #FlagDayFriday, we proclaim that across the USA, Our Flag flies at full staff - except in MI & CO.

In Michigan, Our Flags fly at half-staff to commemorate former congressman Joe Knollenberg who died Tuesday, Feb. 6.  "Joe's commitment to our nation, state and his constituents will never be forgotten," Governor Snyder said.  Knollenberg served in the U.S. army prior to serving as a U.S Representative for eight terms. He was a loving husband and father who enjoyed being involved in his community.  A service in his honor will be held Saturday, Feb. 10 - upon sunset that day, flags will return to full staff.
In Colorado, sadly, yet another deputy has been slain - the 3rd killed in 5 weeks.  So, the Governor of Colorado has called for half-staff of Our Flags from sunrise on Tuesday, February 6, until sunset on the day of the funeral, Saturday, February 10th, to honor El Paso County Sheriff’s Deputy Micah Flick.  Flick, 34, was killed while responding to a motor vehicle theft. Two other deputies, a Colorado Springs police officer and a civilian were injured in the shooting. Flick served the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office for 11 years.  He is survived by his wife and 7-year-old twins.

During this past week, in the Global War on Terrorism combat zones of Iraq and Afghanistan (OIF and OEF), thankfully, there were no fallen combatants.
Unfortunately though, a
U.S. Army soldier died while on deployment to Germany this past Sunday.  U.S. Army Sergeant 1st Class Nicholas Amsberry, of Mesa, Arizona, died unexpectedly in a non-combat incident.  He was deployed with the 1st Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division out of Fort Riley, Kansas.  His military awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, five Army Commendation Medals and seven Army Achievement Medals.

Now, let's take this opportunity to acknowledge, remember, and thank all those service members who are deployed overseas.
We appreciate them defending our freedoms and pray for their safe return home.

Thanks for reviewing today's 'Reminders for Our Flag'
- a service from the Beacon of Honor - Awakens Our Flag program

Now go 'Be a good citizen' today by ...
... picking up and disposing of 2 pieces of trash that will help
keep America beautiful !!!
