The Beacon of Honor - Awakens Our Flag ... to Inform and Inspire Patriotic Citizens ...
TODAY'S FLAG STATUS:
Across the USA, Our Flag flies at full staff - except in Maryland and Arkansas. In MD, Governor Larry Hogan has ordered the Maryland State Flag be lowered to half-staff effective immediately and returned to full-staff at sunset on the day of interment. This action is in honor of Detective Sean Suiter of the Baltimore City Police Department, who died in the line of duty on November 16, 2017.
And, in AR, Governor Asa Hutchinson has ordered the United States flag and the state flag of Arkansas to be lowered to half-staff in tribute to the memory and honor of State Senator Greg Standridge, who passed away Thursday morning. The flag will remain at half-staff until sunset on the day of interment (burial).

TODAY'S REMINDER FROM OUR FLAG:
... One of America's most famous speeches ever ...
... One of America's most famous speeches ever ...
On this date, November 19th, in 1863, President Abe Lincoln delivered his memorable Gettysburg Address. After the crowd patiently listened to famous speaker Ed Everett of Massachusetts for two long hours, Abe Lincoln stood up and delivered his address in less than two minutes. The crowd didn't seemed impressed by his speech. But, later on, after reflecting upon and publishing his address in newsprint across the USA, folks realized this speech symbolized what democracy, and the current fighting to defend it, was all about. The Gettysburg Address has gone on to be one of America's most famous, and probably most recited speeches. I recall studying for and then reciting the Gettysburg Address in 7th Grade. It was an emotional and extraordinary experience for me because I was giving it in front of a classroom full of black students. In a strange way, I was Lincoln that day, but instead of addressing a field full of soldiers, I was speaking to my classroom full of black students (yes, I was the only white kid in 6th-8th grade) at Resurrection School in Montgomery, Alabama back in 1982 - telling my fellow African-American students what democracy can and should be doing for them and all U.S. citizens.

[ ... What?! They lip-synced their way to a Grammy ... ]
[ On this date, November 19, in 1990, the music duo, "Milli Vanilli" (Rob Pilatus and Fabrice Morvan) had their 1989 Best New Artist Grammy taken away from them because they lip-synced (didn't actually sing) the hit song, "Girl You Know It's True." This was the first time a Grammy had bee taken back from an artist. ]
