TODAY'S REMINDER FROM OUR FLAG:
... Molly to the rescue! ...
... Molly to the rescue! ...
On this date in 1754, Molly Pitcher, water carrier turned artilleryman during the Battle of Monmouth, was born in New Jersey. Molly was famously depicted in paintings and sculptures for being the first known female fighter in the Revolutionary War. She took the place for her husband, John Hays, after he collapsed during the battle.
