... the United States Naval Academy.  The U.S. Naval Academy, by order of the Secretary of the Navy George Bancroft, opened on this date, October 10th, in 1845 in Annapolis, Maryland.  It is the second oldest of the 5 service academies and commissions officers in to the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps.

U.S. Army Special Forces Sergeant La David Johnson was killed on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017, from wounds sustained during enemy contact in Niger. He and three other soldiers killed in the attack were assigned to 3rd Special Forces Group at Fort Bragg, N.C.

We honor and thank La David Johnson for defending our freedoms and fighting to liberate the lives of others.
