TODAY'S REMINDER FROM OUR FLAG:
... NATIONAL POW/MIA RECOGNITION DAY ...
2017 National POW/MIA Recognition Day
Friday, September 15th
National POW/MIA Recognition Day will be observed on Friday, Sept. 15, 2017. This annual event honors our missing service members and their families, and highlights the government’s commitment to account for them. Support for these missing Americans and their families is deeply felt. America’s POW/MIAs should be honored and recognized, rather than memorialized, with the focus on continuing commitment to account as fully as possible for those still missing (1,606 as of March 2017).

[Serving up a slice of Americana
... car music on-demand on 8-track ;) ...]
[On this date in 1965, Ford began offering 8-track tape players in its Mustang, Thunderbird and Lincoln models. This marked the first time 8-track players are widely available. The 8-track players tend to chew up tapes, leading to 8-track roadkill as drivers throw the tangled tapes out their windows. ;)]
