'Beacon of Honor - Awakens Our Flag' ... to Inform and Inspire Citizens
TODAY'S FLAG STATUS:
Today, across the USA, Our Flag flies at full staff, except in Washington and Missouri.
During this past week, the following states lowered the Stars & Stripes to honor distinguished citizens who died:
-Washington, today, commemorated U.S. Marine Sergeant Dietrich Schmieman who was aboard the KC-130 crash on July 10th.
-Missouri, today, remembered Police Officer Gary Michael who was killed in the line of duty while making a traffic stop
-Maryland honored U.S. Navy Petty Officer First Class Xavier Martin who died during the USS Fitzgerald ship collision last month
-Texas paid tribute to former Governor Mark Wells White Jr. who served from 1983 to 1987
-North Carolina commemorated Sergeant Jonathan Hunter and Specialist Christopher Harris, soldiers stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC, who both died during a suicide bombing of their NATO convoy in Afghanistan

Died August 12, 2003 Serving During Operation Iraqi Freedom
Sergeant Taft Williams, 29, of New Orleans; assigned to the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Carson, Colo.;
killed when his vehicle hit an improvised explosive device on Aug. 12 near Ramadi, Iraq

We honor and thank Taft Williams for defending our freedoms and fighting to liberate the lives of others.
